When a studio needs NP-FZ100 cells in volume, go straight to a wholesale quote rather than placing a string of small orders. Three reasons. Quantity, invoicing and delivery terms move the real cost enough that a fixed list price cannot reflect it, so a quote is the only way to get your actual tier. A bulk order can be placed as one production batch, which makes numbering and synchronized aging far easier. And warranty claims run through a single channel instead of being scattered across dozens of invoices.
As a retail reference, our NP-FZ100 runs around $17.89 per cell, around $22.93 for one cell with a charger and around $36.74 for two cells with a charger. Those are list prices for single-kit orders. Once you are buying by the dozen or more, the number to work from comes out of a wholesale inquiry.
Three steps to your order quantity
Step 1: count cells in the field at once
Do not count heads, count simultaneous jobs. If the studio can run three crews at once, each on two bodies at 6–8 cells, that is 18–24 cells out in the field at the same moment.
Step 2: add turnover and attrition
- 20%–30% turnover buffer: cells used today need charging before they can go out again, so something has to fill the gap.
- 10% attrition buffer: aging, damaged contacts and losses are normal.
- Peak seasons: size for the busy season, not the annual average.
Step 3: set the charger and accessory ratio
| Item | Ratio | Why |
|---|---|---|
| NP-FZ100 cells | 4–6 per body | From simultaneous jobs plus buffer |
| Dual-slot charger | 1 per 4–6 cells | A charger alone is a small add-on to any order |
| Battery case | 1 per 8–10 cells | Numbering plus transport protection |
| Labels / stickers | One set per batch | Batch code plus serial on every cell |
| Terminal caps | 1:1 | Prevents shorts and contact wear |
Those ratios assume a middle-of-the-road mix of weddings, events and commercial work. Studios that lean on weddings can push the charger ratio higher — see the wedding photographer's NP-FZ100 kit.
Why bulk orders go through a quote
- Volume costs are not retail costs: quantity, packing, invoicing and delivery windows all move the final number. One list price cannot cover that spread.
- Batch consistency only exists at volume: piecemeal buying hands you mixed batches with uneven cycle life, which complicates rotation and retirement calls.
- One warranty channel: cells from a single order follow one process, so a batch-level issue gets resolved far faster.
- Room for custom requests: uniform numbering labels, specific packing or payment terms are typical in bulk and rarely available at retail.
- Repeatable pricing: once a purchase record exists, restocking does not mean re-quoting from scratch.
Our wholesale page is open to studios, rental houses, resellers and anyone buying in volume. The price is not published precisely so that orders of very different sizes each get a fair number — for 100 units or more, send an inquiry.
Spreading the cost: treat cells as consumables
Lithium cells are finite-life assets. With industry norms putting capacity at roughly 80% after 300–500 cycles, studios should depreciate cells rather than expensing them once. A simple approach:
- Accrue by cycle: estimate the working days a cell will deliver over its life — say one busy season — and spread the purchase price across them.
- Log days used per cell: a number and a simple sheet is enough. No system required.
- Sample capacity quarterly: test two or three cells against the batch average to see where the fleet stands.
- Two-year cycle: heavily used batches go into the replacement plan around the two-year mark.
How pricing is built up, and why some cells cost tens and others hundreds, is unpacked in NP-FZ100 price breakdown and our channel price comparison.
Intake inspection: catch problems before cells go to work
- Visual check: no cracks or deformation, clean unoxidized contacts, legible markings.
- Test every cell in a body: confirm it is recognized and can power a shot, and watch for unusual messages.
- Run one full cycle: note charge time; flag anything well off the batch average.
- Log number and batch at intake: batch code in the same column as the serial.
- Hold back spares from the same batch: keep 2–3 cells out of daily circulation for later top-ups.
Some Sony bodies show a message that remaining charge may not display accurately with a non-original cell. That is normal and shooting continues. “Cannot recognize” or “cannot use” is a fault — check contacts and model. Error handling is covered in our NP-FZ100 troubleshooting guide.
Four warranty points to confirm before ordering
- Term length and start date: dispatch date versus delivery date matters a lot on bulk orders.
- Return scope: how cosmetic flaws and out-of-spec performance are handled, and how fast.
- Handling of swelling and other non-user damage: who owns it and how replacement works.
- A named contact: the worst part of bulk buying is having nobody to call.
Our service and returns policy is on the NP-FZ100 warranty page. For team purchases, confirm everything once before ordering and put it in the order notes.
FAQ
How many units before it counts as wholesale?
Usually around 100 is the line, though smaller quantities can be quoted too — the supplier assesses and responds. Buying in one go generally beats piecemeal restocking on cost.
Can a bulk order arrive with uniform numbering?
You can ask for it at the time of ordering; many suppliers ship by batch. Numbering them yourself in the studio is more flexible — the method is in NP-FZ100 numbering and rotation.
Does every cell need its own charger?
No. One dual-slot charger per 4–6 cells is plenty. Chargers are shared assets; buying more just leaves them idle.
Will clients mind third-party cells?
Clients care that the camera never goes dark, not whose name is on the cell. With numbering, rotation and spares in place, the delivered result is the same. Keeping one original cell as a fallback for important dates is a sensible touch.
Our NP-FZ100 compatible battery is rated 2280mAh / 7.2V / around 16.4Wh, listed at around $17.89 per cell, around $22.93 for one cell with a charger and around $36.74 for two cells with a charger. For more capacity, the TNP-FZ100 (2400mAh / around 17.3Wh) runs around $39.92 for the two-cell kit. Studios, event companies and training programs ordering dozens at a time should send a wholesale inquiry — we quote by quantity, batch and invoicing needs, with single-batch supply and one point of contact for after-sales.
